Media Report for the Seminar “The Phenomenon of Extremism: Its Effects and Consequences”
The Syrian Dialogue Center has worked early and since its establishment to monitor the phenomenon of extremism and its growth and to warn against it within the Syrian Opposition by publishing studies and holding consultative seminars attended by different representatives of the revolution and opposition forces, in addition to a number of ulema and opinion-leaders. Due to the Syrian Dialogue Center’s belief in the necessity of continuing to research and consult with specialists in the subject due to its importance and its taking different forms in different contexts, and in order to benefit from the accumulated experiences on the subject, the Syrian Dialogue Center held a seminar with the title “The Phenomenon of Extremism: Its Effects and Consequences.” The seminar was held in Istanbul on Friday, 14 Muharram 1441/13 September 2019 with a number of researchers, politicians and Syrian activists in attendance.
In its first topic point, the seminar discussed relevant cases in other countries and evaluated their previous and future effects on extremist thought and its spread. In the second topic point, it discussed the social effect produced by the rule and domination of extremism in some societies. It concluded in the third topic point by foreseeing the consequences of through sharia and political inductions.
