The essay attempts to shed light on the backgrounds and motives behind Moscow’s sponsorship of the memorandum of understanding between the “SDC” and the “People’s Will” party, through a brief review of the development of the Kurdish issue in Syria, and the strategy pursued by Russia in dealing with it in general and in Syria after the revolution in particular.
