Humanitarian, political and revolutionary circles await the situation in Idlib province with great concern, as it is home today to a population of 2.5 million, half of whom have recently forced to migrate or flee from their different provinces. There is also the possibility, God forbid, of a chemical attack against the civilians in the province. Some of the local residents are receiving reassuring messages from the Turkish observatory points. There have been reports of Russia attempting to extort the Turkish and European parties, by sending a message to the effect of \u201cthe stopping of the attack on Idlib is linked to the subject of refugees and reconstruction,\u201d and it also seems connected to the issue of \u201cHayat Tahrir al-Sham.\u201d The humanitarian situation is very shabby and there is concern, especially if a wide attack is carried out against the province, over the extent to which humanitarian agencies can respond.<\/p>\n
For the sake of researching these points and attempting to reach beneficial recommendations to avoid a new humanitarian tragedy for the Syrian people in the province, the Syrian Dialogue Center held a panel discussion with the title \u201cDestiny of the Idlib Province and Possible Scenarios.\u201d It was held on Tuesday, 24 Dhul-Hijjah 1439\/ 9 April 2018 in Istanbul with the attendance of a number of politicians, researchers and actors from the Syrian revolutionary and opposition forces.<\/p>\n
The panel discussed the possibilities of attack upon Idlib province, the regions expected to be attacked, and the extent of the connection between the attack being carried out or not to the issue of \u201cHayat Tahrir al-Sham.\u201d Accordingly, it also discussed the different scenarios for the province\u2019s fate, in addition to researching the ability of humanitarian agencies to respond to the different scenarios, concluding with research on the effect of the attack on the political process in Syria.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
