Syrian labor in Turkey constitutes about 2.9% of the total volume of employment in the formal and informal Turkish labor market according to government statistics, it’s estimated at one million workers, most of whom work in the informal labor market under difficult conditions, as most of them receive modest salaries, they exposed to exploitation by the employer. despite the harshness of this experience, it carried positive aspects after it provided the Turkish labor market with cheap labor, which had the effect of clearly supporting some sectors of the economy.<\/p>\n
To find out more about the issue of Syrian labor in Turkey and its impact on the economy; On Thursday, 1 Safar 1443 AH, corresponding to September 9, 2021, AD, the Syrian Dialogue Center conducted a virtual seminar entitled: “Syrian employment in the Turkish labor market”, in the presence of a group of interested persons, researchers, experts and employees of organizations concerned with this subject.<\/p>\n
The speakers at the symposium reviewed the most prominent areas in which Syrians work in Turkey, with a highlighting upon the problems they face, whether exploitation by the employer, long working hours, low wages, or failure to obtain a “work permit.” They also touched upon the importance of Syrian labor in the Turkish labor market and its contribution to the economic sector.<\/p>\n
