Media report of the dialogue symposium “Mechanisms for enhancing societal trust among Syrians”

Social trust represents a basic ground for any conceivable solution in the Syrian case. It is considered as the broad basis for solutions that can be built at the level of elites and institutions, as it is the “glue of society”. However, in the Syrian case, most of the facts lead to distrust more than trust; this is due to the exceptional circumstances and the objective context that the Syrian people have gone through and are still experiencing.

Proceeding from the importance of creating trust between Syrians and discussing the factors for strengthening it; On Muharram 10, 1443 AH, corresponding to August 18, 2021, the Syrian Dialogue Center held a virtual seminar entitled: “Mechanisms for Enhancing Community Trust among Syrians,” with the participation of several researchers, media professionals, activists of civil society organizations and some interested in this matter.

The symposium discussed several axes regarding enhancing trust among Syrians, as it touched upon the role of civil society organizations and organizations working in the field of community empowerment in enhancing societal trust, in addition to the role of the family and women, as well as the role of educational, the media, political and military institutions and the current challenges of geography in this Context.

The symposium was attended by the attendees, who presented their views on this subject by putting forward several ideas regarding factors for enhancing confidence and facing the most important obstacles that prevent it, with an emphasis that this matter is not easy to achieve quickly, and that it is necessary to build on it in a way gradual.
