Media Report for the Seminar “Foreseeing the Consequences of the Humanitarian, Military and Political Developments in North Syria”

The past few days have seen great development on the field represented in the control of the regime over Khan Sheikoun and the areas of the northern countryside of Hama after the intense battles of the Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces with Assad’s militias and allies. This was preceded by the entrance of Russian and Iranian militias over the line of direct confrontation, in addition to the exposure of some Turkish troops to direct bombing by Assad forces.

With the aim of shedding light on the latest humanitarian, political and field developments and foreseeing their consequences and the stance of the Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces, the Syrian Dialogue Center held the “Foreseeing the Consequences of the Humanitarian, Military and Political Developments in North Syria” seminar.

It was held in Antakya on Tuesday, 26 Dhul-Hijjah 1440/27 August 2019, with the attendance of a number of politicians, representatives of the military factions and humanitarians.

In its first topic point, the seminar discussed the humanitarian situation and the large movement of refugees in light of the latest developments and the response to it from local and international organizations. In the second topic point, the seminar discussed the military situation and the strategies which the factions can follow in light of the current conditions. It concluded in the final topic point by discussing the political situation and the international actors’ true stances towards the ongoing developments and how the Opposition and Revolution Forces may affect them, as well as the consequences of the Sochi and Ankara agreements and their expected consequences on Idlib.
