Training Course: “Syria: Political Development since the Emergence of the Republic and its Future Horizons”
In midst of the conflict in Syria and the subsequent major political changes, a deeper understanding of the nature of Syrian situation since the establishment of the republic until our current day must be had. This is also in order to know what was wrong in previous practices and to avoid repeating them.
Goal of the workshop: to increase the awareness of political actors and the political offices of factions of the development of the Syrian republic, so that national and political decisions be taken with a good memory of the republican system in Syria
The most prominent topics:
-Reviewing the historical stages since the formation of the Syrian Republic
-The problems which emerged with the formation of the republic such as drawing borders and artificial identities
-The policies adopted by various international powers based on “minority empowerment”
The training course was presented by Dr. Bashir Zain al-Abidin, a Syrian writer, academician and researcher, who gained his Ph.D. in Political history from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London
